First things first, head over to Green Apple Martini’s to see what Laurie, Dark Damian, Fyrchk, and I have been up to the past couple of days while HotDrWife has been away. Tune in tomorrow too for a great story byFyrchk and Howard.
I have nothing to say. I’m really tired. I didn’t sleep well last night. So I apologize for this lame post.
I walked 18 blocks, actually 36 blocks if you count both ways, to get a burrito at El Fuego. It’s the best in Philly and it was sooooo worth it. I used to work 2 blocks from the place until my company moved to a different part of town. I’ve been thinking about their burritos for weeks now. I can’t eat this burrito without making noises and moaning and closing my eyes because it is so damn good.
I’m watching History of the World Part 1 at the moment (they’re singing The Inquisiton–fucking funny) and I’ve noticed something about movies from the 1980’s. There’s a lot of synchronized swimming going on. What’s up with that?
I finished the 6th Harry Potter book last night and I cried. I didn’t see that coming. Wow. I couldn’t bring myself to read the last chapter at first because I was so sad. After chastisting myself for crying over a children’s book, I made myself finish it and now I’m nervous to read the 7th book. I’m so jealous of Rowlings storytelling ability. She has created the most amazing and complex world and it’s wonderful that children are taking the time to read about it.
I’m really in the mood for my apple turnovers right now. I serve them hot with vanilla ice cream and caramel and, sometimes, slivered almonds. God I love food.
In my heart, I was a history major. I’ve always been fascinated with all aspects. I just watched a documentary on Winston Churchill, Stalin & FDR. I even liked that. Somebody stop me!
I cried at the 6th H.P., too. I was so very sad and Rowling is a wonderful writer.
I’ve never read any of her books but perhaps I should.
I love food too–and I love people that love good food. Your apple turnovers sound simply divine daaahling!
history of the world is classic! i must have seen it at least 20 times (wait for the shake…).
never read any of the potter series – i thought i’d look like a fool reading them, because i think the adults at the pool look silly reading a kids book. but since i value your opinion maybe i’ll give them a shot.
Well, as wonderful as History of the World is, and as much as I love the Inquisition song, I was far more entertained by the hotness of that collaborative fairy tale!
I’m going to have to remember to set that up the next time I go on hiatus, or to do my damndest to get in on someone else’s fairy tales when they go away!
I’m glad you finished it, but I know what you mean about being in shock after reading that chapter. It’s sounding more and more like there’s at least TWO major deaths in book 7 still to come, so keep the Kleenex handy next summer (hopefully!).
LOL my parents actually let us watch that. It’s one of Mel’s best movies ever!
Am I retard or was there a Part II ever made? I recall being very frustrated at the end of the movie because, well, Mel made history a million times more interesting than Mrs. Banks.
Despite the many references to eunuchs.
I have three confessions.
(1) I’ve read all the Harry Potter books, and I absolutely love them.
(2) I’ve done EXTENSIVE Wikipedia research into the Harry Potter universe (also known as the ‘Potterverse’).
(3) I listen to a Harry Potter podcast every week. It’s called Mugglecast.
I need professional help.
At least the weekend is near. Have a good one! 🙂
I want to pick up on the food thing – is there anything more powerful than an addition to food? I think not? I got the food monkey squarely on my back and there is no bucking it. Not while breathing.
I’m going to have to try El Fuego, Debbie had such a look of satisfaction on her face when she returned, after lunch. And she better bring in an apple turnover for me to try.
By the way, I’m the JW in her August 8th post.
I’ve never read Harry Potter, not because I’m averse to it though. I’ve just never got around to it.
Apple turnovers and ice-cream…*drool*
Summer: It’s great you love history, but the movie is a comedy classic.
HDD: Perhaps I’ll put the apple turnover recipe on the other blog.
hotwire: I avoided reading Harry Potter for the same reason and now I can’t believe it took me so long to read the books. They are very good. She writes better as she goes along.
liz: Isn’t it funny? I had so much fun doing that.
mg: Don’t tell me that!
jessica: It is awesome.
the lily: Well, you changed your name. I don’t know if there was a Part 2. I’ll have to look it up.
DD: Do you do this in your tutu? You do need help. But to be perfectly honest, I didn’t know they had all of that stuff out there and I’ll probably check it all out myself. So, see you the therapist’s office.
novelist: Thank goodness for that. You too.
pog: Food is one of the best things. Ever.
jspenw: I don’t want you to move cubicles. I’m having too much fun. El fuego was the shit, but you heard all about that. I will bring you an apple crisp and I’ll even get some ice cream for you to put on it because you have to experience the whole thing.
kav: I’m drooling too.
peeps in the 80’s were really into synchronized swimmimg. I mean, what’s not to love, right?
Unless you’re looking for some exercise, next time you go to El Fuego come get my bus pass.
