My toes, my toes, my toes.  They are getting nasty due to the running.  My little piggies are getting rubbed until they’re red and yucky.  I fear they are just going to get worse.  And, even sadder, I have to keep my toenails fairly short because they will break off or bruise with all of the running I’m doing.  Whatever.  I’d rather be healthy and fit with some funky feet then unfit and unhealthy with gorgeous feet.

While we’re on the subject of ugly, I had a huge zit yesterday.  You know where the “u” in the middle of your collarbone, the zit was right above it.  By the time I noticed it, there was a lovely white head on it.  Yummy yummy, right?  I got an alcohol wipe, popped it, cleaned it, and put a little bandaide on it.  I would have taken a picture of it had I not been at work.  The bump is still red today, but at least it doesn’t hurt and there isn’t a head on it.  Who gets a zit there anyhow?  Oh, for some stupid reason, a coworker and I looked up pimples and realized that what I had wasn’t a pimple at all.  It was a small boil.  Ew ew ew!

That’s all the ugliness I feel like embracing today.  Toodles.

I’ve decided to document my ugly parts. Not because I hate them, but because none of us are perfect and we all have those parts of our body that we all  try to hide. Some people even obsess about these parts until it drives them crazy. I’ve decided to not only embrace my ugly parts, but I release myself from their power over me. I refuse to worry that my feet don’t look perfect or my nails are short or my legs are pasty or…whatever. The things we put ourselves through to be perfect, like that’s even possible.

So, here is my first part…the shin of my gimpy veiny leg. This is the leg that has a horrible varicose vein in the thigh causing blood to creep down and cause ugly spider veins in the shin. The vein has also caused that lovely dry patch in the middle of my shin, which has been there for about a year. It doesn’t go away no matter what I do. This vein will be gone by the end of the summer.

By the way, as you can see my other leg has none of these troubles…

I’ll be featuring this segment each week. If any of you would like to share your ugly parts too, please email me a picture and why the part is ugly to you.

Thanks for listening. Stay tuned for details of my road trip to TN.
